I've had my new 2008 Madone 5.5 Performance for about 3 weeks and absolutely love it. The geometry provides great handling as well as absolute comfort. It is blazing off the line and makes climbing K.C. hills a pleasure. Add to that all the envious comments from fellow bikers and it sure was worth the wait.

I love my new Madone. It has instant response uphill and the handling is first rate.

I am contemplating between the Performance fit and the Pro Fit.
Is the handling any different from the Performance fit to the Pro fit? Does the longer steer tube on the Performance change the handling characteristics when compared to the Pro fit?
By increasing the head tube on the Performance fit by 30m does this alter the head tube and seat angles once the bike is assembled? By looking at the pictures the increase in the head tube seems to be at the bottom of the head tube.

From above, Greg has questions about Pro vs Perf fit handling. The Geometries between these two bikes is the same so they handle very much the same. The Perf fit bike has a higher hand position so that can affect your weight bias on the bike - you'll have less weight on your hands and more on your butt. Trek knows the stability and predictability associated with the Madone geometry is something we want to preserve. The Perf's 30mm higher hand position is all in the upper half of the headtube so the seat angle is the same as the Pro's.
