I'm a big fan of Jason McCartney. He was a pleasure to work with when I was doing the team liaison job (Ben Coates does that now). Jason was always easy to talk to and gave great feedback on products Trek and Bontrager were developing. I'm stoked to see Jason win a stage in the Vuelta.

I absolutely agree Scott ... I'm a big Jason fan too. He's been such a workhorse for the team. My wife and I were fortunate to meet Jason at the Tour De Georgia two years ago. He had just finished a stellar race, blowing up the pack with several long breakaways through the mountains (even though he was ill). Afterwards, my wife and I were able to have dinner with him and the Discovery team. I can honestly say he was the most sincere person, graciously accepted our compliments, and still seemed in awe of being a pro bike rider. His parents were there too and you could see how proud they were. Anyway, congratulations to Jason. We’re rooting for him to find a great team for next year.

Congratulations on Jason's win, I think this is one of my favorite wins of the year just because he is a hard working domestique and he finally got a chance to shine, and just in time. I was also wondering what Van Goolen is riding at the vuelta, looks like a old prototype madone with a round clamp on seat mast? Thanks for keeping me up to date Scott.

I was wondering, what's the reason he's riding the old Madone?

Why is Jason not riding the new Madone?

Jason's a stud, it was not mentioned that he won that stage with Trek's 2007 technology- which is still better than most competitor's top end stuff. That boy deserves the new madone too bad it's the end of an era for both Trek and Disco.

I watched Jason beat John Leiswyn at the Snake Alley crit when he was up and coming. Sure you knew he was strong, but he was such a super-nice guy. Good to see the nice guy get the big result.
