Alberto Contador holds on to a four second lead today in the Giro. On the eve of another possible Grand Tour win, I am having a little bit of Deja Vu. A little less than a year ago I was sitting in the middle of no where France hoping that Alberto would be able hold on to the lead that he had procured and win the Big One. I as sit here now, I am having the same feeling just in a different country. Will he be able to hold on to the small lead that he has? I think so. His main competitor is not much of a timetrial specialist and Alberto has come a long way in that discipline in the last year. 4 second might not seem like much but you can bet that the other team sees that number as a unfathomable hurdle that stand between them and the pink jersey. On the closed streets of down town Milan the story will unfold. 3 weeks of racing, down to one day and 4 seconds...good think Versus shows live coverage on Sundays for all you in the States!

I wish to praise the work done today by Mr. Colom. He could have easily won the stage. Instead he brought home his team and his captain, to fight another day and to win, not just the Giro, but the time trial, too. Mr. Contador is simply an amazing competitor, who will make this year's Tour de France irrelevant, but today, it was Mr. Colom, who showed us what Team Astana is all about.

Anyone winning the Tour de France this year will clearly do so because Astana, Contador and Trek aren't there. If the team can produce an effort like this without being prepared what would they have done on top form on a route with a lot less climbing?
Contador is a complete super star and Astana a team worthy of Trek's support!
