3 weeks seperated by 4 seconds

Alberto Contador holds on to a four second lead today in the Giro.  On the eve of another possible Grand Tour win, I am having a little bit of Deja Vu.  A little less than a year ago I was sitting in the middle of no where France hoping that Alberto would be able hold on to the lead that he had procured and win the Big One.  I as sit here now, I am having the same feeling just in a different country.  Will he be able to hold on to the small lead that he has?  I think so.  His main competitor is not much of a timetrial specialist and Alberto has come a long way in that discipline in the last year.  4 second might not seem like much but you can bet that the other team sees that number as a unfathomable hurdle that stand between them and the pink jersey.  On the closed streets of down town Milan the story will unfold.  3 weeks of racing, down to one day and 4 seconds...good think Versus shows live coverage on Sundays for all you in the States!

Madone endorsement

I found a blog that praises the Madone for exactly the right reasons.  Thanks Cal!

"The Trek provides a very comfortable ride, yet the bike is light and responsive. The higher stem means a more relaxed, slightly upright riding position. My palms don't go numb and my neck doesn't get stiff. I've got enough gears to climb the mountains and go fast on the plains. I look forward to riding this bike because it just feels good."  -Cal Meuzelaar  ...read more...

Prepping for a Trip to Italy

Astana's last minute entry into this year's Giro also means a last minute trip to Italy for me.  I am pretty excited about this because I have never been to the Giro and a Time Trial in Downtown Milan might be second best to the one I went to in London last year.

The team had to scramble to get ready for the Giro, they only had about a week to get stuff situated before they had to leave.  Luckily for us most of the equipment for the year had already been delivered so there was no shortage of equipment that the team requires for a Grand Tour.  Some how Johan and crew shuffled around everyone's schedule and made it to the race with a stellar roster.

So far Astana is doing all the right things in the Giro.  It will be fantastic to see if they can pull something out in the end......
